| The Ellis Family The Ellis Family has been singing and traveling in one form or another for the past 20 years. The band was started in 1985: Wayne and Kathy Ellis were founders. At that time the group had a full band and a quartet. Through the years, the band has undergone many changes until it became the group you see today: Wayne (the father), Kathy (the mother) and Amy (the daughter).
The Ellis Family’s greatest joy is to travel together as a family and spread the message of our Lord and Savior’s Love for everyone. (And with as much time as they spend together -- it’s a good thing they like being with each other!!) Their love and devotion for the Lord and each other shows in their everyday lives, through their music and on stage.
Wayne Ellis has worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 30 years and plans to retire in 10 years. He and Kathy have been married for 31 years in June. He too is a born again Christian. He is a very talented pianist and has been since he was very young. When he was 16 years old he played for a group called “The Gospel Crusaders.” He has been playing in gospel groups ever since. Wayne is also a founder of the group but only started singing in it about 10 years ago. He was the pianist and band manager for the group before he started singing full time.
Kathy Ellis is PLENTY years old (she isn’t telling how many though!). She has been a born again Christian since the age of 11. Kathy works for Jenks Public Schools and has for 21 years now. She is an Information Technology Specialist for them and retires in 5 years! Earlier if she gets a grandbaby first!! Wayne and Kathy have a 28-year-old son named Michael and his wife’s name is Edie. Kathy, along with her husband Wayne Ellis, is one of the founders of the group when it started out 20 years ago in 1985.
Amy Ellis is 26 years old and will be 27 in January. And fellas...she’s still SINGLE!!!! She graduated from Jenks High School in 1998 and started working as an Administrative Assistant immediately. She is a devoted Christian and has been since she was a little girl. Amy has been singing for most of her life but only started singing with the group full time within the past few years. She took her uncle Russ’s place in the group in about 1997 and has been singing with them full time ever since.
